At the Catalyst Convention a couple of weeks ago one of the presentations was an interview with author William Paul Young, who has written a book entitled The Shack: Where Tragedy Confronts Eternity. It is a novel . . . one that was written never to be published, only to find itself a #1 New York Times Bestseller. Not having heard of the book before, I wasn't real clear about what the author was talking about in the interview when he talked about all the criticism he was getting, especially from those who had never even read the book.

Well, I read the book. And I was impacted in a way that I have not been impacted in a very long time. For me, parts of this book hit way too close to home. I can see where some may be disconcerted by this story. I can understand now why the author has suffered such severe criticism. Mostly it is because anything or anyone who challenges our thinking about God. . . who he is, and what he has done. . . and our relationship to him. . . is looked upon with fear and skepticism.

I'm not going to say much in this week's blog. I am going to strongly encourage you to pick up this book and read it. If nothing else, it will make you think anew about your personal relationship to God, and what it means. It has certainly done that for me. I will be VERY interested to hear what you think of this book. It's a fast read, I completed the book in two days. Do yourself a favor - read this book. And then tell us what YOU think!
